Social Contribution Social Welfare

The Chugai Group participated in the Roche Children's Walk 2023 charity event held globally by Roche and raised funds. This year marks the 20th anniversary since the first “AIDS Walk” was held in 2003, and many sites from Roche Groups around the world participated in this event.

As a result of the fund-raising activities, total amount of 703,028 yen from 1,425 people of the Chugai Group was collected. And the company donated the same amount as the donation amount from employees as "Matching Gift Method". A half of the total of 1,406,056 yen was donated through Roche to support children in need in Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi,  the Nepal, and other countries. And the other half was donated to” Purattodotto” in Japan.

“Purattodotto ”, which operates in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture, was established in 2021 with the goal of creating a community where adults and children, with or without disabilities, can mix and live together in a flat relationship. The organization utilizes a community space "Puratto. Shojima" that serves as the organization's base, and operates the Puratto Terakoya, so that children can spend time with peace of mind after school and during extended holidays. The adults involved in Terakoya include local executives, former teachers, parents of children, and university students. We believe that it is important to create an environment where adults and children can learn from each other by having adults from various regions interact with children on a daily basis.
This donation will be used to cover operational expenses, etc. of Puratto Terakoya.

Ms. Hirooka, the president of Purattodotto, said, " I would like to create more and more places where children and other people can drop in and feel safe, where they can not be alone in their worries and have flat relationships with a variety of people."
