Chugai Pharmaceutical (hereinafter referred to as “the company”) recognizes the importance of protection of personal information and complies with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (Act No. 57 of 2003. Hereinafter referred to as the “Personal Information Protection Act”) based on the policies set forth in the “Chugai Group Privacy Statement” and lawfully and properly manages and protects personal information set forth in the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as “Personal Information”). This notice on handling of personal information (hereinafter referred to as the “Notice”) informs how the Company handles the personal information of patients, healthcare professionals, other business partners, and stakeholders (hereinafter referred to as “you”). However, a notice on the protection of personal information may be issued separately from this notice by individual notice for each product/service.
This notice may be changed without notice in order to improve the system for protection of personal information.
Category of personal information
The Company will directly or indirectly collect the following personal information within the scope of the business conducted by the Company by a legal and fair means.
- General information: Name, gender, work place, work address, work telephone number, work e-mail address, medical subjects, department, workplace, title, job title, position, year of graduation, and graduated school,.
- Health-related information: Information on medical care (Disease information, treatment/procedure information, test information, hospitalization/discharge information, etc.), information on health checkups/examinations, genomic data
Source of personal information
The Company may collect Personal Information directly from you as well as from the following third parties or media.

- Media such as social media and the Internet
- Other third parties (Medical institutions, distributors, other companies in the same industry, contractors, etc.)
Purpose of Use
The Company shall publish the purpose of using the Personal Information on the website, etc., and the collected Personal Information shall be used for the Company’s business of manufacturing and selling drugs and medical devices, etc. within the scope of the purposes set forth below in this notice, within the scope reasonably recognized to be related thereto, or within the scope of other purposes notified individually.

Pseudonymized Personal Information
Pseudonymized information refers to personal information processed so that a particular person cannot be identified unless it is collated with other information by taking measures based on the Personal Information Protection Act.
The Company may create pseudonymized information and properly handle such pseudonymized information for the purpose of use in drug discovery research and clinical research, etc. to create the efficacy and safety of drugs and medical devices (including use with AI learning data) by taking safety management measures in accordance with laws and regulations, etc.
Anonymized personal information
Anonymously processed information refers to personal information processed so as not to identify a particular person or restore such personal information by taking measures based on the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as “Anonymously Processed Information”).
The Company may collect anonymized information, use it for analysis, analysis, research, etc., and continuously provide the information to third parties to the extent necessary for the operations after clearly indicating that the information is anonymized information. Cross-Border Transfer
The company will implement the safeguards required by national law in the cross-border transfer of your Personal Data (“cross-border transfer”). In the transfer of personal data between the Chugai Pharmaceutical Group, we have taken measures to protect it by concluding a data transfer agreement between Group companies to ensure a certain level of protection in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
When handling personal data in foreign countries, the company takes safety management measures after collecting and grasping information related to the personal information protection system in the relevant country. Safety Management Measures
The company shall take necessary and appropriate safety management measures for the management of personal data (including personal information collected or intended to be collected, which is planned to be handled as personal data), including the prevention of leakage, loss, or damage. In addition, necessary and appropriate supervision will be given to employees and contractors (Including subcontractors, etc.) who handle personal data. The main contents of safety management measures for personal data are as follows.

The Company takes measures to prevent theft or loss of equipment, electronic media, and documents that handle personal data. - (Technical Safety Management Measures)
In addition to implementing access control, the Company has introduced a mechanism to protect information systems that handle personal data from unauthorized access from outside sources.
Procedure for requesting disclosure, etc. of Personal data the business holds
- Personal data the business holds refers to personal data with the authority specified in the Personal Information Protection Act to disclose, correct, add or delete the contents, suspend use, delete, and suspend provision to third parties, other than those specified by the Cabinet Order as those in which the public interest or other interests are harmed if their presence or absence is made clear.

However, an application will be deemed as not made if the shortfall amount is not sent to us within the designated period.
