Chugai's Uncompromising Pursuit of Drug SafetyChugai provides biopharmaceuticals, molecular targeted therapies, and other innovative pharmaceuticals to patients around the world. With new modes of action, they are highly effective, but their downside is that they may cause unforeseen adverse reactions or other problems. For that reason, Chugai established the Drug Safety Division, which is staffed by a team of safety experts and reports directly to top management, to create a comprehensive pharmacovigilance system that helps patients to correctly use Chugai products. With these measures, Chugai aims to promote more appropriate use of its medicines and build further trust among patients and healthcare providers.

Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women, with about 40,000 cases diagnosed each year in Japan. Chugai invited two people closely involved in this field, Dr. Seigo Nakamura and Ms. Misako Togashi, to talk with Akio Tanaka, head of Chugai's Oncology Unit, about current and future issues in cancer treatment and Chugai's role in realizing patient-centered cancer care.
