Chugai’s Pharmaceutical Packaging Leveraging Proprietary Technologies Wins the “WorldStar Winner 2026” at the “WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2026” from the World Packaging Organization

• International recognition for the simultaneous achievement of reduced environmental impact, assured pharmaceutical quality, and improved usability for patients

TOKYO, May 11, 2026 -- Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 4519) announced today that the packaging applied to “Rozlytrek^® Capsules 100 mg and 200 mg” (hereafter, Rozlytrek Capsules) received “WorldStar Winner 2026” in the Medical and Pharmaceutical Category at the “WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2026,” hosted by the World Packaging Organization. This marks Chugai’s second award, following “Actemra^® 162mg Syringe for Subcutaneous Injection” and “Actemra^® 162mg Auto-Injector for Subcutaneous Injection,” which received the award in 2016.

This packaging initiative also won the Technical Packaging Award at the Japan Packaging Contest 2025 organized by the Japan Packaging Institute. Only products that have won awards at packaging contests certified by the World Packaging Organization are eligible to enter the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards. The packaging was internationally recognized for the simultaneous achievement of reduced environmental impact, assured pharmaceutical quality, and improved usability for patients.

Rozlytrek Capsules are an oral medication, and by switching from conventional bottle packaging to press-through pack (PTP) and pillow packaging, the following values have been realized simultaneously:

• Reduced environmental impact
  By utilizing eco-friendly materials such as biomass plastics and recycled plastics, the packaging contributes to reduced dependence on fossil resources and the promotion of circular resource use.
• Assured pharmaceutical quality and stable supply
  For PTP packaging of large capsules (size 0) with high forming difficulty, a film thickness equalization technology was established, enabling both formulation stability and mass production capability.
• Improved usability for patients
  Laser processing applied to the pillow packaging improves ease of opening, realizing packaging designed with consideration for diverse patients, including older adults.
