Chugai Life Science Park Yokohama Receives Double Honors at the Yokohama Environmental Activity Award: Grand Prize and Special Award for Biodiversity

Chugai Life Science Park Yokohama, a research hub of Chugai, received the Grand Prize (Corporate Category) of the Yokohama Environmental Activity Award as well as the Special Award for Biodiversity at the 32nd Yokohama Environmental Activity Award Ceremony, held on November 6, 2025.

The concept of the research site is “Green Innovation Village—an advanced research institute scattered amid abundant greenery.”

The campus design incorporates rich green spaces and places strong emphasis on harmony with the local community. By introducing state-of-the-art facilities, promoting energy conservation, and utilizing renewable energy, the site aims to reduce environmental impact—including CO₂ emissions—and achieve a sustainable facility design that coexists with the environment.

In addition, as part of its climate change initiatives, the welfare building has adopted a high-efficiency air-conditioning system that uses natural refrigerants. The green areas are subject to continuous monitoring and management, and environmental education events involving local residents and employees are regularly held, thereby actively contributing to biodiversity conservation.

The Yokohama Environmental Activity Award

The Yokohama Environmental Activity Award, administered by Yokohama City, is an award program established to recognize Yokohama citizens, companies, and children, pupils, and students who have made outstanding contributions to environmental conservation, restoration, and creation. The program aims to further raise public awareness of environmental issues and promote community-based environmental activities across the city.
