Contribution of Para-transit Vehicles to Welfare Services in 2025

“Specially equipped para-transit vehicles donation program” by Chugai Pharmaceutical started in 1985 as part of the company's 60th anniversary commemorative projects. The initiative has continued through 2025, the year of the company’s 100th anniversary, marking its 41st year of operation. Including the five vehicles presented this year, a total of 288 cars have now been donated.

In Japan, where society is rapidly aging, the number of elderly people and those with physical disabilities who require care is increasing year by year. To ensure that these individuals can live independently and securely in their familiar communities, various home welfare services, including day services and day care, are currently being provided at different facilities. Specially equipped para-transit vehicles donated by Chugai are utilized as a means of transportation connecting these facilities and their homes. 

In 2025, vehicles were donated to five organizations:

• Tsurugashima City Council of Social Welfare(Saitama Prefecture)
• Nagoya City Atsuta Ward Council of Social Welfare(Aichi Prefecture)
• Aritagawa Town Council of Social Welfare (Wakayama Prefecture)
• Kagamino Town Council of Social Welfare(Okayama Prefecture)
• Saza Town Council of Social Welfare(Nagasaki Prefecture)

Donation ceremonies were held in each location, and the staff and users of the recipient facilities gave us a warm welcome.

This donation program is carried out with the cooperation of the National Council of Social Welfare and the Central Community Chest of Japan, and recipients now span all prefectures.
