Support for "Chugai Pharmaceutical presents Nationwide Wheelchair Softball Experience Events"

As part of our efforts to realize an inclusive society, Chugai Pharmaceutical continued its Official Top Partner agreement with the Japan Wheelchair Softball Association (JWSA) in 2025 and supported wheelchair softball experience events held nationwide.

Wheelchair softball is a baseball-type sport played with 10 players per team using sports wheelchairs. This sport is attracting attention as a universal sport that anyone can participate in regardless of gender, age, or disability, and its greatest appeal is that everyone can enjoy it together on the same field. These experience events are held to widely promote the fun and depth of wheelchair softball and to expand the sport's popularity.

Locations: 8 locations nationwide (Gunma Prefecture, Niigata Prefecture, Osaka Prefecture, Saitama Prefecture, Iwate Prefecture, Shizuoka Prefecture, Nagasaki Prefecture, Chiba Prefecture)
Number of Participants: Total of 193 people (People with disabilities: 25 people, People without disabilities: 168 people)

Our company employees and their families also participated in the events, experiencing the appeal of wheelchair softball while receiving direct instruction from members of the Japanese national team. It was a valuable opportunity to realize through play that this is "a sport where everyone can be a star."

Chugai Pharmaceutical will continue to actively support the promotion of adaptive sports that everyone can enjoy on the same field, regardless of disability, gender, or age.
