Chugai Pharmaceutical sponsors the "Parent-Child Handbike Classes" and "Parent-Child Kayak Classes" organized by the General Incorporated Association ZEN, continuing our commitment to providing outdoor activity opportunities for children with disabilities and their families. These activities aim to promote children's independence through experiences in nature and to deepen bonds with family members and peers.

In fiscal year 2025, we held four handbike classes at Saiko/Michiman Green Park (Saitama Prefecture) and Wakasu Seaside Park (Tokyo), with a total of 28 participants.

Participants learned safe handbike riding techniques, including not only basic operations such as pedaling, turning, and stopping, but also how to give directional signals and traffic rules, acquiring safe and enjoyable cycling skills. Once they became familiar with the operations, parents and children rode together under the refreshing blue sky of the expansive park, and through the experience of overcoming challenging paths together, they shared the joy of taking on challenges and the sense of achievement.

Additionally, 46 people participated in the kayak class held at Lake Saiko in Yamanashi Prefecture. In the extraordinary environment of the lake, children energetically paddled to the opposite shore, taking on challenges such as races and long-distance travel. Representative Director Nojima stated, "Fully engaging with nature and experiencing educational activities where families and groups overcome the obstacles that nature presents helps cultivate children's social skills and cooperativeness, and also leads to their independence and autonomy."
