Chugai Presents Nationwide Wheelchair Softball Experience Event

Continuing from 2021, Chugai has concluded an official top partner agreement with the Japan Wheelchair Softball Association (JWSA) to sponsor a nationwide wheelchair softball event in 2024.

Wheelchair softball is a baseball-type sport played by a team of 10 players in competitive wheelchairs and is one of the few outdoor team sports for people with disabilities. In Japan, the sport is open to both men and women, and people without disabilities are also allowed to participate, making it a universal sport that can be enjoyed by everyone.

The purpose of the event is to introduce the appeal and fun of wheelchair sports to as many people as possible and to broaden the scope of the sport.

〇Venue: 8 locations throughout Japan (Gunma, Oita, Chiba, Osaka, Shizuoka, Okinawa, Kanagawa, Aichi)

〇Participants: Total: 283 (Persons with disabilities: 52, without disabilities: 231)

Our employees and their family members also participated in the trial sessions.
They experienced the fun of wheelchair softball as a sport while receiving direct instruction from a Japanese national team player, and realized the appeal of wheelchair softball, in which anyone can play a leading role.

Chugai, which aims to realize an inclusive society, will continue to support the spread of wheelchair softball, a universal sport that can be enjoyed by all, regardless of gender or age, and by people with or without disabilities.
