Contribution of Para-transit Vehicles to Welfare Services

• Chugai has donated a cumulative total of 288 para-transit vehicles under its donation program since 1985 to support home nursing care
• Chugai donates para-transit vehicles to social welfare foundations in Saitama, Aichi, Wakayama, Okayama and Nagasaki Prefectures in 2025

TOKYO, October 7, 2025 -- Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 4519) announced today to donate specially-equipped para-transit vehicles to five organizations providing welfare services for senior citizens and disabled people.

Chugai started a donation program in 1985 as part of activities to commemorate Chugai's 60th anniversary, giving out vehicles that are used as a means of transport by senior citizens and physically disabled people who receive long-term nursing care at home, and this social contribution program has been carried on with unchanged commitment even as we celebrate our 100th founding anniversary. The total number of donated vehicles has amounted to 288 including the five cars supplied this year. Donation has been made in every prefecture in Japan, in cooperation with Japan National Council of Social Welfare and Central Community Chest of Japan.

With the super-aged society, the number of senior citizens and people with disabilities requiring nursing care has been increasing every year. For these people to lead self-reliant lives with peace of mind in a familiar environment, a variety of in-home welfare services, including day services and day care, are being provided at various facilities. The specially-equipped para-transit vehicles which Chugai provides are used as a means of transportation between their homes and these facilities.

The wagon-type vehicles donated by Chugai can seat six passengers including one wheelchair passenger. A wheelchair lift is installed to allow for easy loading and unloading.

In addition to providing innovative pharmaceuticals, Chugai aims to grow together with society and contributes to its sustainable development through social contribution activities mainly in the medical and health areas where Chugai has experience and expertise.
