TOKYO, July 25, 2019 -- Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 4519) announced today the following organizational changes and personnel changes, effective October 1, 2019.

[Organizational Changes]

1. Establishment of Digital & IT Supervisory Div. and abolishment of IT Supervisory Div.
   • Digital & IT Supervisory Div. will be newly established to lead company-wide digital and IT strategies. Digital Strategy Dept. (newly established), and IT Solution Dept. (renamed from Information System Dept.) will be placed in Digital & IT Supervisory Div.
     • The mission of Digital Strategy Dept. is to plan and execute company-wide optimal digital strategies, accelerate value creation and process innovation with IT, and reinforce the digital infrastructure to realize Chugai’s strategies.
     • The mission of IT Solution Dept. is to execute business strategy from the IT side and provide advanced IT solutions based on the latest technology, and construct and operate optimal IT systems that ensure quality and security.
   • With the organizational changes above, IT Supervisory Div. will be abolished. Purchasing Dept. which currently belongs to IT Supervisory Div. will be transferred to Finance Supervisory Div. to realize more strategic cost efficiency in a closer alignment between financial strategy and purchasing strategy.
2. Functional reorganization, establishment and abolishment of organizations in Project Lifecycle Management Unit and Marketing & Sales Div.
   • Marketing & Sales Planning Dept. will be newly established in Project & Lifecycle Management Unit.
     • Functions of Overseas Business Dept. in Marketing & Sales Div. will be integrated into Marketing & Sales Planning Dept. for strengthening: life cycle management of overseas products including planning and execution of clinical development, manufacturing, and marketing promotion strategies; and governance structure of overseas subsidiaries.
     • Functions of Marketing & Sales Planning Dept. in Marketing & Sales Div. including business planning for marketing and sales in the domestic market will be integrated into the newly established Marketing & Sales Planning Dept.
   • With the organizational changes above, Overseas Business Dept. and Marketing & Sales Planning Dept. in Marketing & Sales Div. will be abolished.
3. Functional reorganization, establishment and renaming of organizations in Translational Research Div.
   • Early Clinical Development Dept. will be newly established in Translational Research Div. to consolidate planning and promotion functions for early clinical development of Chugai origin projects for better efficiency, and to foster skills for early development.
   • Translational Research Strategy Dept. will be renamed Project Planning & Coordination Dept.
4. Transfer departments to corporate function
   • Business Development Dept. and Intellectual Property Dept. will be transferred from Project & Lifecycle Management Unit to corporate function to strengthen decision making process corresponding to Chugai’s strategies amid tremendous changes in the business environment.
