TOKYO, January 22, 2016 - Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 4519) announced today that its “Annual Report 2014” published in March 2015 won the Grand Prize in the 18th Nikkei Annual Report Awards. It is the first time for a pharmaceutical company to win the Grand Prize.

We started to publish the annual report in an integrated form, from “Annual Report 2012,” aiming to promote a better understanding of the Company among a wide range of stakeholders. Upon integration, we made various kinds of efforts to effectively communicate its unique strengths and corporate value to our stakeholders, not simply combining conventional financial report and corporate social responsibility (CSR) report. As a result, “Annual Report 2012” and “Annual Report 2013” won the Second Prize in two consecutive years, and we received higher evaluation this time.

Our business philosophy “Innovation all for the patients” was laid as the backbone of the entire report, and we employed a long-term vision focusing on “Chugai’s Seven Unique Strengths” that are identified as our corporate value, and featured Chugai’s approach to issues in pharmaceutical industries and discussions with outside experts on Chugai’s future value creation.

Chugai will continue its effort to disclose information to the stakeholders in an even more easy-to-understand manner.
