TOKYO, February 7, 2024 -- Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TOKYO: 4519) announced that the company was selected for the CDP’s A-List by a global environmental non-profit CDP, being recognized its leadership for transparency and performance in the two categories of climate change and water security.

CDP is a non-governmental organization (NGO) in the United Kingdom that was inaugurated in 2000. By sending out questionnaires to major companies around the world and encouraging information disclosure on their efforts to address environmental issues and evaluating them, CDP aims to enhance engagement in environmental issues worldwide.

Chugai considers global environmental protection to be an important foundation for all of our business activities and has set challenging mid-term environmental goals 2030 based on global environmental consensus. We will strive to be a role model for the world that leads the solution of environmental issues through innovative global environmental conservation activities and active information disclosure based on evidence, in cooperation with Roche and external partners. From the perspective of periodically verifying our position in global environmental countermeasures, Chugai started to participate in the CDP reporting in 2012. As a result of these continuous efforts and information disclosure, Chugai has become one of the few companies that were selected for the highest-rated A-List in 2023, among more than 21,000 companies that were subject to scoring. In the category of climate change, we have been selected for A-List for three consecutive years since 2021, and in the category of water security, we were selected for the A-List for the second time following 2021. Additionally, being selected for the double A-List in the categories of climate change and water security is the second time following 2021.

In the growth strategy TOP I 2030, Chugai sets a "role model for the world" as one of three visions as a top innovator in 2030, aiming to become a leader in resolving social issues by pursuing ESG initiatives through business activities.
