Business Development Manager for alliance opportunities and licensing activities

Background to appointment:

To strengthen the business development function through work on global license-out of in-house projects, global license-in of 3rd-party projects, and new therapy/technology alliances for future business expansion

Description of work

- Create license/alliance strategy
- Search alliance opportunities on projects, new therapy and technology
- Conduct due diligence, negotiation, contract drafting and execution
- Alliance management (collaboration and governance management with alliance partners after the contract execution)
- Networking

Required qualifications

Desired experience:

  • Experiences in Research, Development or CMC Development, and Business Development in Pharmaceutical Industry (total around 15 years)
  • Experience of working closely with global cross functional project teams
  • Experiences in global business/contract/IP preferred
  • MBA preferred

Desired skills/knowledge/abilities:

  • Scientific knowledge in pharmaceutical research and development
  • Proficient business communication skills (negotiation, presentation, networking) in English
  • Leadership skills to proactively involve team members/stakeholders

Desired competencies:

  • Seeks to achieve assignments with an interest in the execution of company-wide strategy
  • Strives for continued personal growth with motivation for various business negotiations and transactions in Japan and overseas
